Craven Sits On Pole In Race For Charity – Ricky Craven will lead the field of over 500 participants in his sixth annual snowmobile ride January 25th at Moosehead Lake in the state of Maine. With an already heavy snow accumulation at Moosehead Lake and 5 years of successful rides in the past, this year the ride looks to be the best ever. All participants in the ride enjoy a fun filled day with Ricky and ride on picturesque woodland trails. Most important of all is that all the participants bring in money for donations to some of Ricky’s favorite charities.
In all there are five charities that receive donations from the event: The Marrow Foundation, the international leader in the facilitation of unrelated marrow and blood stem cell transplantation; Children’s Miracle Network, an International non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals throughout North America; The Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy; The Travis Roy Foundation, a foundation designed to help with care and research for victims of paralysis, created on behalf of Travis Roy who was paralyzed in his first shift in his first college hockey game; Give Kids the World, a charity that allows children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to stay in a special village and enjoy the many Central Florida theme parks and attractions. idnpoker
Last year the ride generated over $114,000 in donations for the charities. In the five-year history of the charity ride, Ricky and his friends have donated over $380,000 to these great charitable organizations. As a racer, family man and someone who has visited with many of the individuals who are helped by these organizations, Ricky is thrilled to able to support these charities every year. “This event is something that I look forward to every year. Each time we do it, the ride gets bigger and better. It is tremendous that we can all have a great day riding snowmobiles in my home state of Maine but it is even more important that we are doing this to help all these great charities. We have over 100 volunteers that help with the ride and we could not do it without their donation of their time and effort”.
The ride itself starts at 8:30 a.m. on the 25th of January and winds through trails on and around Moosehead Lake. Included with the ride is a 7:30 a.m. breakfast and lunch along with a special autograph session that includes lots of prizes.
